The old idiom says that every cloud has a silver lining. But when the “bad weather” of life’s trials come your way, what do you see—the storm clouds or the silver lining?
It may be true for some people that there are few silver linings in their circumstances, but this is never true of Christians. If Jesus Christ is your Savior, you share the life of One who suffered immeasurable loss and turned it into incalculable, eternal gain. And because of what Christ did, Scripture promises that all things work together for your good (Romans 8:28). That, surely, is the ultimate expression of what it means to be saved!
So, what do you see, the springtime or the rain? If your view of life is based on what seems obvious you may want to try seeing things through the lens of God’s spiritual vision. He not only shows us the way, He also bears us and our burdens on the way. The equation for 20/20 spiritual vision is not God plus circumstances, favorable or unfavorable, but God Himself. He is enough.
