Christians are role models. By our behavior we influence others for good or for evil, toward truth or away from it. When Christians are in leadership they have a greater influence. To be an example of Christ and His teachings, we must be familiar with Him and what He taught! It begins with heeding the admonition to read, to study, and then to live His Word.
Ezra was a Jewish scribe and prophet, of whom it is said in the book bearing his name, that he “prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.” (Ezra 7:10)
If we follow the teachings of the Word of God, we will likewise be able to teach the Word of God, spreading its blessings and leading others to Christ by His teachings and examples. The world needs us as role models today more than ever.
The Apostle Paul urged his young disciple, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2Timothy 2:15).
