In the absence of God (abolished from enlightened thinking that has no appetite for “outdated superstitions”), American universities have become breeding grounds for violent protests fueled by warped perceptions of justice and injustice.
Enlightened thinkers—Liberals, Progressives, Anarchists, Socialists, Communists—are unmoored from God’s standards of absolute righteousness and absolute moral integrity. Consequently, they can rationalize almost anything, including revolutionary violence that may produce terrible atrocities, in the belief that a perfect new world will arise from the rubble of the old. The last century saw Communist regimes in Russia, China, North Korea and Cambodia slaughter tens of millions of their citizens because idealists with a low moral compass held views full of gross logical and moral inconsistencies that drowned rational thought. The most vicious Latin American terrorist movement of recent times – Peru’s “Shining Path” – was founded by a professor of philosophy. Bashar al Assad, the bloodstained former dictator of Syria, was a London-trained ophthalmologist. Osama Bin Laden was college educated and affluent. His one-time deputy, George Habash, was a surgeon.
“Progressive” elites in America – many of them closet Marxists – are impelled by a passionate sense of indignation against perceived social injustices or fantasy threats like global warming. Opposition to their prescriptions for social improvement are seen as evil. “Migrants” are the latest hot issue, sanctified in progressive minds by the mere fact of their criminal entrance into America.
The result is a growing conflict against the soul and certainty of all that once made America a force for good in the world. It is a conflict where one side is wholly committed to its cause while the other scarcely knows there is a war on. Hopefully, America’s shrinking Christian remnant will awake from its comfortable slumber before it is too late, and substitute fervent prayer for passivity.
